Rat Poison Found in HiPP Baby Food
Rat poison has been discovered in HiPP baby food in three countries at once. The Austrian police reported the detection of a toxic substance in a container of baby food, specifically a 190-gram packaging of carrots and potatoes. Following this, the product was recalled from more than 1,500 Spar supermarkets.
Similar containers were also checked in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where preliminary analyses have also indicated the presence of poison.
HiPP confirmed to Reuters the fact of the poison's discovery. The company stated that this may point to external criminal interference, and as a precaution, the product has been removed from sale.
The police warn that hazardous containers can be identified by damaged lids, a white label with a red frame stuck to the bottom, and an unusual odor of the contents.
