Turkey's Foreign Minister Discusses the 'Zangezur Corridor'
Turkey hopes that a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be signed quickly, stated Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. In a press briefing following the conclusion of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Fidan noted that Turkey expects an accelerated signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to the Turkish minister, the process of normalizing relations between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey promises economic benefits. Fidan emphasized that the region plays a key role in the implementation of the Middle Corridor project, as the stability of the South Caucasus is crucial for the security of that route.
He added that the 'Zangezur Corridor' is considered a vital route for Turkey, and cooperation on this issue is also ongoing with the European Union. Fidan believes that the signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia would stimulate the development of all countries in the region, and that the parties are very close to achieving this goal.
