Iran-U.S. Talks Canceled
Iranian opposition media, citing a Pakistani diplomat, report that contrary to expectations, the new round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S., scheduled for April 20, will not take place.
It is recalled that Iran and the U.S. began talks in Islamabad on April 11 after Trump announced on the night of April 8 that they had reached an agreement on a two-week ceasefire with Tehran. However, by the morning of April 12, Vice President Jay D. Vance, leading the American delegation, announced that the parties had failed to reach an agreement.
Later, Donald Trump declared that the U.S. would begin the blockade of all ships entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz. He also instructed the U.S. Navy to monitor and seize all vessels that had paid Iran to pass through the strait.
