Erdogan Offers to Facilitate Peace Talks with Putin
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed Ankara's willingness to organize negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict, including participation from the leaders of the involved countries, during a conversation with Vladimir Putin.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that President Erdogan has conveyed his readiness to support the negotiation process to his Russian counterpart. According to the minister, the outcome is dependent not only on Ankara's position but also on the agreement of the conflicting parties.
Fidan reminded that last summer, Turkey hosted the parties in Istanbul three times and is now prepared to provide a platform for both technical and high-level meetings.
The minister noted that the sharp increase in tensions between the United States and Iran has diverted the international community's attention, leading to a decrease in interest regarding peace negotiations surrounding the Ukrainian crisis. Nonetheless, Hakan Fidan emphasized the necessity of efforts to achieve peace, adding that Turkey has the relevant capabilities to contribute to resolving both the Ukrainian and Palestinian issues. He pointed out that although meetings are also taking place in other cities, Ankara once again offers its mediatory platform.
