Why Armenia Did Not Become a Platform for US-Iran Negotiations: Edmon Marukyan
“Why should US-Iran negotiations be held in Islamabad rather than Yerevan, when Armenia is a member of the Council of Peace, and according to the government’s propaganda, ‘Pashinyan is on good terms with Trump’,” wrote LHK leader Edmon Marukyan on his Telegram channel.
“It was obvious to everyone that before the signing of the ceasefire, the United States was looking for avenues for dialogue, but the Armenian authorities remained indifferent. Yet, they repeat every day that they are supposedly building a ‘crossroads of peace’ in the region, but when that crossroads is ‘burning’, no steps are taken to rectify the situation.
Against the backdrop of discussions about our country’s ‘European integration’, as a neighboring and friendly state to Iran, why did Armenia not come forward with a proposal to provide a negotiation platform? Sovereignty is manifested in this way—when a state has ambitions and tries to satisfy them, rather than waiting for what new demands Aliyev and Erdogan will present for expedited implementation,” Marukyan wrote.
