Trump May Make New Concessions on Iran Issue: Politico
U.S. President Donald Trump may be willing to make new concessions on the Iran issue as he seeks an end to the conflict, according to a report by Politico citing a senior official from the Gulf region.
“I think he (Trump) will go for new concessions... he is serious about negotiating and really wants this to end, but the Iranians are still refusing to give him what he needs to save face and exit the conflict,” the publication quoted the source as saying.
It is worth noting that the U.S. and Israel began striking targets in Iranian territory on February 28, resulting in casualties of more than three thousand people. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. Subsequent negotiations in Islamabad ended without success. Meanwhile, there have been no reports of the resumption of hostilities, but the U.S. has begun blocking Iranian ports. Mediators are attempting to organize a new round of negotiations.
