Turkey Significantly Increases Special Forces Numbers, New Brigades Formed

The Turkish military authorities have made a decision to expand the composition of special operations units. According to official information, the number of commando brigades in the country's armed forces will increase, a move prompted by changes in the regional security situation and the emergence of new types of threats.

The newly formed units will differ in structure from the currently operational brigades. They have been designed with modern operational concepts and contemporary combat methods in mind. Previously circulated information indicated that the Turkish defense strategy includes plans to create a total of 15 new brigades.
