Turkey Significantly Increases Special Forces Numbers, New Brigades Formed
The Turkish military authorities have made a decision to expand the composition of special operations units. According to official information, the number of commando brigades in the country's armed forces will increase, a move prompted by changes in the regional security situation and the emergence of new types of threats.
The newly formed units will differ in structure from the currently operational brigades. They have been designed with modern operational concepts and contemporary combat methods in mind. The restructured units will enable a more flexible and effective response to challenges that arise on the battlefield.
Previously circulated information indicated that the Turkish defense strategy includes plans to create a total of 15 new brigades. This process is part of a large-scale program aimed at modernizing the armed forces and enhancing rapid response capabilities, with the goal of increasing the army's combat readiness in the current geopolitical environment.
