Over $100 Million Brought into the Country: Ioannissian's Scandalous Statement

“The operational-investigative bodies of the tax and customs services have tightened the control over cash entering the country. Those bringing large sums into the Republic are being arrested (for example, recently a person bringing in 47.5 million rubles was detained). But that is not enough.

This is very important because the money for electoral bribes and illegal financing of political activities cannot come through transfers. It can only come in cash... We are talking about at least several hundred million dollars.

We have received information that over $100 million has already been brought into the country. We have information that individuals living in very specific areas of Yerevan (a broad circle of former senior officials) are systematically flying abroad for 1-2 days and upon their return are bringing cash in their hand luggage.

The law enforcement agencies need to gather all these circles and prevent their involvement in illegal political financing schemes,” he wrote.
