Tehran Warns: Gas Prices Will Increase

The spokesperson of the Iranian parliament forecasts a rise in gasoline prices due to the prevailing situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The head of Iran's legislative body and the country's chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has reported on potential disruptions in the global fuel market. Based on the geopolitical tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and possible actions from the United States, he predicted a significant increase in gasoline prices for consumers.

In a post on his social media platform, the Iranian parliament president indicated that American consumers may soon nostalgically remember current fuel prices. According to him, as a result of “blockade” processes, the existing cost of gasoline, which amounts to 4-5 dollars per liter, will remain in the past.

Ghalibaf also presented a mathematical formula in his post, attempting to substantiate the direct correlation between disruptions in the oil market and geopolitical factors. From the Iranian official's perspective, any interruption in the supply chain of energy carriers will inevitably lead to deepening economic consequences and new price records.
