Israel Sees Turkey as Its New Adversary
The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that Israel aims to make Ankara its primary enemy. Fidan noted that both ruling and opposition circles in Israel seek to portray Ankara as their main adversary.
In an interview with the Anadolu Agency, the diplomat highlighted that the Israeli political system is characterized by a constant search for external enemies, and after Iran, there is now an effort to place Turkey in that role. According to Fidan, this approach is not unique to the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu but also includes other political figures who employ anti-Turkish rhetoric.
The Foreign Minister asserted that Turkey's stance on the issues concerning Lebanon and Gaza hinders Israel's plans, placing the latter in a complex situation. Addressing the events in Lebanon, Fidan regarded them as part of Israel's expansionist ambitions. He warned that aggressive actions taken by Tel Aviv, aimed at increasing its zones of influence, could lead to a large-scale regional conflict.
