Manuk Vardanyan Accused of Transferring Monuments to the Church

The former head of the State Cadastre Committee, Manuk Vardanyan, is accused of transferring historical and cultural monuments, which are considered state property, to the Armenian Apostolic Church without compensation. This was reported by Hetq.

According to the indictment, Vardanyan, along with a first-category specialist from the committee's legal and legislative development department, deliberately failed to perform their official duties, which negligently led to severe consequences. A measure of restraint, namely 'detention,' has been applied against Vardanyan.

In particular, several monasteries and churches, which are recognized as historical and cultural monuments, were handed over to the Armenian Apostolic Church without compensation to ensure their targeted use. The case was sent to the Anti-Corruption Court on April 9, 2026, and assigned to Judge Meri Moshinyan.
