Macron Issues Statement After Phone Call with Pezeshkian

French President Emmanuel Macron has held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The discussions covered a wide range of issues related to regional stability.

Macron urged Tehran to utilize the negotiation process that began in Islamabad to achieve lasting de-escalation and sign a security guarantee agreement. The importance of restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz was emphasized during the negotiations.

Macron highlighted the significance of maritime security and expressed Paris's readiness to contribute to this process. According to him, the uninterrupted operation of international trade routes must be ensured within a tight timeframe.

The parties paid particular attention to the situation in Lebanon and the maintenance of the ceasefire regime. Emmanuel Macron stressed that France supports the legitimate authorities in Lebanon as the only legitimate structure ensuring the country’s sovereignty and making decisions about the state’s future.
