Turkish Sky Turns Orange-Red
A powerful dust storm in Turkey's Antalya resort region has changed the color of the sky and reduced visibility. According to the local Antalyahakkinda portal, a thick layer of dust transported from North Africa has caused the atmosphere to take on an unusual orange-red hue.
The report notes that large masses of dust and sand have risen from Libya and neighboring areas, then traveled across the Mediterranean Sea with southern winds to reach southern parts of Turkey. The most noticeable effects have been recorded in Alanya and several other areas of Antalya.
The portal states that the change in the sky's color is due to the altered refraction of sunlight, as dust particles in the air change the condition of light propagation. Additionally, the high concentration of dust in the air has led to a decrease in visibility, causing concern among residents and tourists.
A similar phenomenon was recorded a few days ago on the Greek island of Crete, where the sky turned bright red, and airport operations were restricted. Experts link this situation to the movement of so-called 'Sahara dust'; these fine particles can travel thousands of kilometers, alter the atmospheric color, and impact air quality and weather conditions.
