Why 'Radio Aurora' and Kiss FM Armenia Were Not Invited to the 25th Anniversary of the Television and Radio Commission

This year, the Armenian Television and Radio Commission celebrated its 25th anniversary. On behalf of Auroranews and the Aurora Media group, we congratulate the Commission on this milestone and wish for further development and the strengthening of trust.

At the same time, we note that 'Radio Aurora' and Kiss FM Armenia were not invited to the anniversary celebration. In this regard, we feel it is necessary to make a few observations.

Over the past 25 years, the Commission has played a significant role in shaping the media environment in Armenia, developing the licensing system and oversight capabilities.

'Radio Aurora' has been one of the market leaders for many years, maintaining a wide and stable audience. It has been operating for almost as long as the radio industry has been in Armenia.

Kiss FM Armenia is a next-generation radio station that has established its position in the industry over nine years of operation, creating a stable audience. Both radio stations actively participate in the development of the sector, including the Radioplayer Armenia project, which serves as a national digital platform integrated into the Radioplayer Worldwide ecosystem. This project has experienced multiple growth phases and is effectively shaping a new digital infrastructure for the Armenian radio market with international coverage.

In this context, the discussion pertains not only to market participation but also to its formation. The strength of the Commission, as an independent regulatory body, is determined not only by its powers but also by the trust in its operations. This trust is built through equal, consistent, and transparent treatment of all market participants. It is based on these criteria that the perception of the regulator is assessed by the sector today.

The past 25 years is an important phase. In the next stage, the environment where principles of equality, proportionality, and predictability will operate consistently and without exceptions will be crucial.
