Scandalous New Recording Related to Election Bribery

Mariam Z.

As a result of extensive measures carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, factual data has been obtained indicating that a group of individuals aimed to distribute electoral bribes during the municipal elections in the Vagharchapat community of Armenia's Armavir province to secure votes in their favor.

To implement their criminal intent, the group's members recruited primarily members of the Republican Party of Armenia, who had extensive connections and many acquaintances within the community. Consequently, they promised over fifty individuals a bribe of 50,000 drams on the condition that they vote for the candidate of the 'Homeland' party in the elections.

In order to complete the crime and entirely control the process for that purpose, the group members clearly divided roles, compiled lists of recruited voters, and maintained communication with the recruited citizens on election day.

Following a search operation, documents containing handwritten notes related to those accepting the offer of electoral bribes and assisting in providing the bribes were discovered, along with lists pertaining to voters and polling stations.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against 62 individuals, some of whom have admitted their guilt regarding the charges presented and provided confessional testimonies. The proceedings against some of the accused have been separated and forwarded to the court with an accusatory conclusion.
