VIDEO: Case of Electoral Bribery in Favor of 'Strong Armenia' Revealed

The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia reports that credible information has been obtained indicating that a group of individuals, acting in preliminary agreement, aimed to distribute electoral bribes to several citizens residing in the Armavir region of Armenia for their participation in the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for June 7, 2026, and to vote for the party indicated by them.

According to the report, these individuals opened an office in the community of Metsamor under the guise of the public organization 'Our Way', and subsequently registered various residents of the Armavir region formally in this organization between 2025 and 2026, instructing them to recruit individuals who would vote for the 'Strong Armenia' party in the elections.

It has also been revealed that the promised electoral bribes, which were distributed in phases, were disguised as salaries to obscure the provision of electoral bribes and minimize the likelihood of detection. Notably, one of the main prerequisites for employment in the NGO was for individuals to have large families and a wide circle of acquaintances, as well as being eligible voters.

Additionally, after the presidential decree on the announcement of the National Assembly elections enters into force on February 7, 2026, and under the legislative prohibition on conducting charity, several individuals, acting in a group, provided financial resources of varying amounts without charge in the name of 'Strong Armenia' for medical services for residents of the Armavir region participating in the national elections during February-March 2026.

A criminal proceeding has been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A dozen searches have been conducted, and five individuals have been arrested.
