This is a Matter of Morality and Ethics: If I Had the Opportunity, I Would Have Resigned My Mandate Earlier, Vardanyan
I have very consciously written a letter of resignation from my parliamentary mandate because I do not want and do not wish for my parliamentary colleagues to feel constrained. If you take on a certain role, you must move forward, you should not be afraid. This was stated by judge candidate Vladimir Vardanyan during the discussion of the constitutional court judge election project at the National Assembly session.
“I really love parliamentary work, and I also love the Constitutional Court. I am rooted in the Constitutional Court, but I do not want to create a situation where if it doesn’t work out here, at least I will stay there, no. This is a matter of morality, ethics; it is the right thing to do,” said Vardanyan, responding to MP Hovik Aghazaryan’s question about whether Vardanyan was rushing to resign his parliamentary mandate, as it was possible he might not be elected as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
According to him, if he had the opportunity to resign earlier, he would have done so and would have appeared in parliament not with a dual status but solely as a candidate for the Constitutional Court judge.
Let us remind you that Vardanyan had previously posted on his social media page, stating that in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, he has ceased his membership in the 'Civil Contract' party, and if elected as a judge of the Constitutional Court, he will also terminate his parliamentary activities.
