Director of Sevan Medical Center Accused of Embezzlement and Forgery

The Criminal Procedure initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has established that the director of the Sevan Medical Center, using his official powers, committed embezzlement of significant assets entrusted to him and also forged documents in collaboration with others.

Specifically, it has been revealed that the aforementioned director of the medical center hired a relative in 2022, who did not attend work at all during that period until November 2024 and did not fulfill his job responsibilities. The preliminary investigation has also established that the director, in collusion with a staff member of the same medical center, created a false document regarding the relative’s attendance at work, resulting in the medical center paying an additional amount of 2,238,745 AMD in salaries from its budget.

The director has been charged under Article 256, Part 2, Clauses 2 and 3, and Article 457, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. As a measure of restraint, a prohibition on leaving the country and a suspension from office have been applied. The relative and the medical center employee have also been charged under the same articles.

During the investigation, the total damage of 2,238,745 AMD caused to the state has been fully recovered. The investigation in the criminal case has been completed, and the materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia with an accusatory conclusion,” reported the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia.
