Zakhrova: The Armenian Government's Interest Is Strange
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, has commented on the statements made by the Armenian authorities regarding the possibility of joining the European Union. According to her, Yerevan presents European standards as an unconditional advantage.
Zakharova noted that the Armenian government's interest in European standards seems strange, considering that the country does not participate in their development. At the same time, she emphasized that Armenia is fully engaged in the processes of the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union.
In Zakharova's assessment, a picture is being formed that appears attractive from the outside, but its real foundations are unclear. She added that the European Union is currently facing a number of issues, including a decline in industrial production, rising public debt, and a migration crisis. In this context, Zakharova questioned the legitimacy of Yerevan's declared policy towards the EU.
