No Information on the Current Status of the New Nuclear Plant in Iran, Grossi Says
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has no information on the current status of the new nuclear facility being constructed in Isfahan, Iran. This was stated by the agency's Director General Rafael Grossi.
According to him, he is currently in Washington, where he is participating in a conference and holding meetings with representatives of the U.S. administration. Grossi noted that the discussion concerns an underground structure, but IAEA experts have not yet visited the site.
The agency's chief emphasized that a previously planned inspection visit was canceled following attacks during 12 days of military clashes involving the site.
Grossi stated that Iran informed the IAEA about the existence of this facility last June. However, international inspectors have not yet had the opportunity to conduct an on-site investigation.
