Threat to Blow Up Apartment to Force Membership in 'Our Way': Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation into a case where individuals were threatened with violence by a couple to obstruct their free exercise of electoral rights. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

“During the preliminary investigation, it was found that on March 9, 2026, V.K., an employee of Gazprom Armenia, and his wife, V.D., arrived at the apartment of A.H. with the preliminary and joint intent to obstruct A.H.’s free exercise of electoral rights. During a conversation that took place on the stairs in the backyard of the residence, they threatened A.H. with violence and damage to property, forcing him to come to the office of the 'Our Way' party in the Tashir community to register as a party member and vote for their candidate in the upcoming National Assembly elections on June 7, 2026, otherwise threatening to blow up his apartment in a manner that would present it as an accident.

A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against V.K. and V.D. based on point 1 of part 3 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (obstructing the exercise of the right to participate in elections or referenda, or the rights and obligations of individuals participating in the work of electoral commissions or in elections or referenda). Detention has been applied as a measure of restraint against the husband, while the wife is under a restriction of absence, bail, and administrative supervision.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings is ongoing,” the report stated.
