New Restrictions in Azerbaijan: Rules Against Evasion of Military Service Tightened
Azerbaijan has tightened legislative regulations against evasion of military service. This was reported to the APA news agency by the State Service for Military Conscription and Mobilization of Azerbaijan.
According to amendments made to the Migration Code, if a citizen avoids active military service or conscription for mobilization, their right to exit the country may be temporarily restricted until the relevant decision is adopted.
These changes have also been included in the decision of the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to judicial practices regarding evasion of military service, unauthorized departure from the military unit or place of service, and desertion.
Moreover, liability may arise if a conscript changes their residence for more than three months to avoid military service, does not exit from the military registration of their previous residence, and fails to register at their actual place of residence or notify the relevant authorities.
According to the media outlet, the aim of the legislative changes is to strengthen national security, ensure timely recruitment of conscripts in the armed forces, and enhance the effectiveness of the mobilization system.
