Iran Issues Warning Statement Calling on Several Countries
Tehran has urged countries not to allow their involvement in the war. Iran has warned Romania, stating that it will take political and legal action if Romania permits the United States to use its military bases for actions against Iran. This was reported by Esmail Baghaei, a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, according to Iran International.
He noted that such a move would be viewed as participation in military operations against Iran. Baghaei emphasized that if Romania provides its bases to the U.S., it will be considered part of military aggression, which, he argued, would contradict international law and lead to international liability.
In response, Romania's Foreign Ministry stated that the country is not a party to the conflict. The ministry reminded that a bilateral agreement signed in 2006 legally allows the U.S. to use certain military facilities located in Romania.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry also pointed out that missile defense systems have been operating in the country for over ten years, which are strictly defensive in nature and are employed in accordance with the UN Charter for self-defense purposes. The ministry added that since the beginning of the conflict, diplomatic efforts and de-escalation have been prioritized.
