Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Statement

During the working visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Switzerland, a ceremony was held on March 12 in Bern for the official opening of the Armenian resident embassy. Ignazio Cassis, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, participated in the event. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In front of the embassy building, located in the historical part of Bern and included in UNESCO's World Heritage List, the flag of the Republic of Armenia was raised, and the national anthems of both countries were played. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the official opening of the embassy was announced.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Ignazio Cassis delivered welcoming speeches. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized: “Thanks to our traditional presence in Geneva, we have already established a strong political dialogue, and the relocation of our bilateral embassy to the capital of Switzerland is an important step in the development of our bilateral relations and symbolizes our joint commitment to continuously strengthen friendship and cooperation between our two countries.”

Ignazio Cassis, in turn, noted: “Having a presence in the federal capital will provide the opportunity to develop closer cooperation between our institutions and further strengthen the relations between our two countries.”
