I Have No Doubt That This Agreement Will Be Signed: Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that he and the President of Azerbaijan have discussed peace.

“I did not talk about relative stability, and the President of Azerbaijan did not talk about relative stability either. I spoke about peace, and as far as I know, the President of Azerbaijan also spoke about peace. We are talking about peace,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a briefing with reporters after a government meeting.

Regarding the possibility of signing a peace agreement, Nikol Pashinyan stated, “As I have had the opportunity to say, silent, calm, and composed diplomatic work is being carried out in that direction. But I will say—I have no doubt that this agreement will be signed. Whether it will be signed in April, May, June, or September is a secondary issue, but it will be signed. It is very important to note, and perhaps for the first time, or if not the first time, it is now clearer that there is a convergence of Armenia and Azerbaijan’s positions, so that even in the absence of a signed Peace Agreement and while it is being pre-signed, peace has been established. We will now talk about the consolidation of peace and the impossibility of turning back peace, and in this regard, domestic political processes are important. They are important both in Armenia and in Azerbaijan because there are forces in Armenia, and I assume there are also forces in Azerbaijan, that are not entirely satisfied with peace and will try to reverse it.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenian citizens must protect the established peace and make it irreversible. “We, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, must stand for the established peace and make it irreversible. Yesterday, I had the occasion to speak about this from the podium of the European Parliament,” he noted.
