Georgia Presents Its Conditions to the EU: Papuashvili
The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, stated that the restoration of relations with the European Union will be possible only if Brussels refrains from attempts to influence the country’s internal political processes. His statement was made during a conversation with journalists.
Papuashvili noted that the European side is aware of the steps necessary for the restoration of relations. He emphasized that one of the primary conditions is the rejection of attempts at regime change in Georgia. He pointed out that Tbilisi considers the pressure from Brussels, which he describes as anti-democratic, unacceptable.
The Chairman of the Georgian Parliament also announced that the EU must stop the clandestine funding of various organizations within the country. He added that it is also necessary to abandon anti-Georgian rhetoric and to cease financing and supporting propaganda that, according to him, is directed against Georgia.
Papuashvili's remarks come against the backdrop of the current tense relations between Georgia and the European Union. He outlined Tbilisi's vision, specifying what preconditions the Georgian side considers essential for the restoration of dialogue.
