I Thank the President of Azerbaijan for Such a Decision: Pashinyan
For eight months, full peace has been established along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The year 2025, marking our independence from 1991, has become the first calendar year since then in which there have been no casualties or injuries from Armenia-Azerbaijan gunfire. Border residents have not heard gunfire for several months now.
For the first time since independence, in November 2025, a train came to the Republic of Armenia passing through Azerbaijani territory and also through Georgia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during his speech at the European Parliament. This occurred after the President of Azerbaijan announced in October 2025 that he would lift the restrictions on railway transport through Azerbaijan to Armenia. “I thank the President of Azerbaijan for such a decision,” said Pashinyan.
“We, in turn, have declared that today we are ready to ensure transit from Azerbaijan to Turkey and in the opposite direction, because we can do this with our existing routes at this moment. Neither Azerbaijan nor Turkey has yet taken advantage of this opportunity. I assume this is also because they think such a solution might delay the implementation of the TRIPP project. From this podium, I officially declare that Armenia has neither the intention nor the reason to delay the implementation of the TRIPP project, because it fully aligns with Armenia's short-term, medium-term, and long-term interests,” Pashinyan added.
