Papoyan's Response to the Issue of Armenian Hauliers Crossing the Georgian Border with Bribes
In response to a question from 'Armenia' faction MP Garnik Danielyan regarding how much longer Armenian hauliers would have to cross the Georgian border with bribes, Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated that he has already reached out to law enforcement. He mentioned that no individual has come forward to declare that such an incident has occurred.
Papoyan noted that public statements have been made, and hundreds of users have made similar posts in the comments of his Facebook page. He added that he has contacted law enforcement, who have reached out to those who made comments, but no one has been found willing to confirm their statements.
“There hasn’t been a person who came forward to say, ‘this has happened.’ There have been public statements, and hundreds of people have written such things in the comments on my Facebook page. I have contacted law enforcement, and they have reached out to those who commented, but no single person has come forward to say, ‘I confirm what I wrote.’ I do not know if this information is true or false, but I know that no one in Armenia has come forward to confirm it,” the minister said.
The Minister of Economy emphasized that legal matters should be addressed to law enforcement rather than to their office, and he highlighted that this issue will also be discussed at the Intergovernmental Meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Tbilisi.
