Russia Considers New Restrictions Against Cuba Unacceptable, Says Putin

Putin emphasizes that Russia considers new restrictions against Cuba unacceptable. “We are in a special period now, with new sanctions. You know how we feel about this. We do not accept such things,” the President of Russia said during a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

“The position of our Foreign Ministry is open, clear, and unequivocal,” he stressed.

Putin noted that Russia and Cuba have historically formed a special relationship. “We have always been on the side of Cuba in its fight for independence, for the right to choose its own path of development, and we have always supported the Cuban people. We know how difficult it has been for the Cuban people to fight for decades for the right to live by their own rules and to protect their national interests,” the Russian president stated.
