New Paths Will Open: Export Volumes Are Significantly Smaller Than Imports, Papoyan

Greece is an important partner for Armenia and there is significant potential to deepen bilateral cooperation. This was stated by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan in an interview with Armenpress during his visit to Greece as part of the presidential delegation.

Papoyan noted that in recent years there have been positive developments in both investment and trade turnover. “If we look at the structure of total trade turnover, we see positive trends, but we also see that our export volumes are significantly smaller than imports. Therefore, there is quite a bit of work to be done in this direction. During these days, we have meetings with business circles, and we will try to attract investments on one hand, and find new export markets on the other,” the minister stated.

Speaking about the processes of unblocking infrastructure in the region and new opportunities for economic cooperation with Greece in this context, Papoyan mentioned that new paths could be opened here. “One of the main obstacles to the development of trade and economic relations is also closed borders. The unblocking of roads and opening of borders will naturally bring Armenia closer to Europe, and in this context, we believe that new opportunities are emerging. During the meeting with the Greek business community, we will pay special attention to this aspect,” the minister emphasized, adding that they are ready to discuss any initiative or proposal from Greek entrepreneurs.

According to the minister, Armenia intends to deepen cooperation with Greece in all sectors of the economy.
