Azerbaijan Continues Construction of New Railway Towards Armenia and Turkey
The Azerbaijani Railways Company continues the construction of a new railway in Nakhchivan. This was reported by Caliber.az.
“This railway line, which connects to the ‘Zangezur Corridor,’ will ensure a direct land connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as access to Turkish, Armenian, and European markets. It is a crucial section of the ‘Middle Corridor’ and part of new regional transportation communications, connecting with the TRIPP route in Ordubad, near the border with Armenia,” the publication states.
The project envisions the reconstruction of 10 stations along the 194.1-kilometer railway and the construction of 814 engineering structures, including 29 bridges and 4 tunnels. The first phase of design and construction work, which started at the end of last year, includes the Salamalyik, Ordubad, Azan, and Julfa sections.
