We Discuss the Nakhchivan Railway Project with Azerbaijan: Koss

“We are discussing the initiation of a feasibility study for the Nakhchivan railway project with Azerbaijan,” said European Commissioner for Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi during the Munich Security Conference, as reported by APA.

“Currently, we are working with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey to compile a list of projects where priorities are set based on specific initiatives. We are now in discussions with Azerbaijan regarding starting the feasibility study of the Nakhchivan railway project, which holds great interest for both us and international financial institutions. Everything we do there lays the groundwork for private investors. These are large-scale projects. I still do not know how we will implement them, but I certainly believe in you. This is, to some extent, a new direction for us; we are pushing each other forward, and that is pleasant. Sometimes the decision-making process in the EU is difficult because the organization unites 27 countries. However, we see that, for example, a joint visit to Nakhchivan could become a real game changer. You are also aware of our discussions with Turkey,” Koss stated.

The commissioner added that the matter concerns not only cooperation between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey but also relations with the European Union.
