Yerevan Will Not Extradite Citizens Pursued for Political Reasons to Russia - Simonyan
National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan has ruled out the possibility of the arrest or extradition of citizens pursued in Russia for political reasons during an interview with Дождь television. "Zero people have been extradited from Armenia. If a person does not violate our laws, there is no criminal case initiated against them. There have been situations where individuals were arrested, but after clarifying the circumstances, those unique cases ended with their release," Simonyan stated.
He emphasized that many of those wanted in Armenia—"former politicians accused of violence, murder, and corruption—are currently hiding in the Russian Federation."
"I guarantee you that no one will be arrested or extradited for political reasons to any other third country. I officially assure you of this. Many people come to us, many artists, many famous individuals who are declared foreign agents, etc. They hold concerts here," said the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament.
