One for all, all for one: Von der Leyen's message in Munich
Rita M.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, delivered a strong message at the Munich Security Conference, asserting that the European Union must turn its mutual defense commitments into practical reality.
According to her, it is time to activate Article 42.7 of the EU Treaty, which pertains to mutual defense. “Mutual defense is not an optional obligation for the European Union but a clear and legally binding commitment enshrined in our own treaty,” she stated.
Von der Leyen articulated the essence of the provision with a simple principle: “one for all, all for one.”
