Yeghoyan to Opposition MP: Your Faction Leader Will Never Have a House Like Ours
We are discussing a very important bill, which is an addition to another very important project. Because of it, along with Mr. Papikyan (Minister of Defense - ed.), we were in the positions this December, met and talked with many military personnel, and I must say, I was sincerely impressed. This was stated by Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction, during a session in the National Assembly.
Addressing the opposition's claims that the bill creates inequality among servicemen, Yeghoyan noted that today, an average rated contract serviceman receives a taxed salary of 620,000 drams. 'I want to say that this is more than a deputy's salary,' he added.
Yeghoyan also responded to a remark from Artsvik Minasyan, the secretary of the 'Armenia' faction, stating, 'Mr. Minasyan, especially our faction members do not have houses like your faction leader, and I think they never will.'
To Minasyan's question about the relevance, Yeghoyan replied, 'Very much. Instead, after your numerous requests yesterday and the day before, the Minister of Defense presented the visual documentation of our state’s fortifications. What you were asking about, where this public debt has grown from, is still unresolved regarding the illegal seizure of Seyran Ohanyan's properties, which is why we have constructed all these, our state’s, all of ours’ - the houses of those who defend our military and homeland - with public debt.'
It should be noted that the parliament is discussing for the first time the bill on amendments and additions to the law 'On Military Service and Status of Servicemen' as presented by the Government.
