Presidential Elections in Ukraine: When
Ukrainian authorities are preparing to hold presidential elections and a referendum on a peace agreement with Russia this spring, Ukrainian and Western officials have informed the Financial Times (FT).
Earlier, the publication reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may officially announce this on February 24, marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's large-scale invasion.
Kiev has taken this step under pressure from the Trump administration, which demanded that both votes be conducted by May 15, and that peace negotiations with Russia be completed by summer.
For their part, Zelensky and his team have clarified to the American side that they are ready to hold the elections and referendum in "extremely tight timelines," despite the challenges posed by the war.
