Pelosi's Reaction to Vice President DiVance's Deletion of Armenian Genocide Post
Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has reacted to Vice President James DiVance's deletion of a post regarding the Armenian Genocide. "When I visited Armenia in 2022 as Speaker, our Congressional delegation stood at Tsitsernakaberd and spoke clearly and unapologetically about the Armenian Genocide because the truth matters," Pelosi wrote on her microblog X, referring to the U.S. Vice President's removal of the post recognizing the genocide during his official visit to Armenia.
She noted that this truth was established in 2019 when the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide by a majority, as well as in 2021 when President Biden officially acknowledged it, demonstrating moral leadership. "A stance shamelessly rescinded by the Trump administration. It is profoundly disappointing, although not surprising, to see how the Vice President erases this recognition of the truth. The erasure of history dishonors the victims and diminishes our commitment to human rights everywhere," Pelosi stated.
