Fidan's Interview Distorted by Iraqi Media, Turkish Foreign Ministry Says
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's interview on February 9 was distorted by Iraqi media. According to the ministry's spokesperson, Tanju Bilgic, Turkey seeks to continue constructive cooperation with Iraq in all areas, including security and the fight against terrorism.
“Fidan emphasized the threat posed by the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK), a terrorist organization located in Iraq, and expressed Turkey's determination to root out terrorists both in Iraq and Syria while maintaining close cooperation with the Iraqi administration,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the interpretation of his remarks as interference in Iraq's internal affairs is incorrect.
