No Degradation of Peace Will Occur, We Will Consistently Proceed on the Path of Border Delimitation
I want to firmly establish the issue related to the occupied territories. We have stated this, and we already have a legally binding document in both countries regarding it.
This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with Public Television, elaborating further: “These issues will be resolved during the border delimitation process, because I am reiterating, this clearly establishes this matter, and we have done this a long time ago. There will be no degradation of peace regarding this issue; we will consistently proceed on the path of border delimitation, and we will accurately enshrine the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan and Armenia based on the 1991 Almaty Declaration.”
There is an additional nuance regarding the issue of border delimitation and the implementation of transport routes (TRIPP) because the border is long, and the delimitation will take a considerable amount of time through natural processes. By the way, I should mention that the delimitation commissions are also working remotely, drafting various documents and projects for protocols. This means that daily work is ongoing; in fact, delimitation is a very detailed and complex process, and it continues and will continue.
Regarding communication routes and transport, we understand that in this case, we should organize the border delimitation process somewhat differently. In the areas where the railway, pipelines, and power lines are to pass, for example, if we need an area of 500 meters in width, we should first delimit and demarcate at least one and a half kilometers to ensure that there are no doubts on either side. Only after we accurately delineate the border with millimeter precision can we address the issues related to transport routes.
