Average Life Expectancy in Armenia Revealed

According to Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, the average life expectancy in Armenia for 2024 stands at 78.6 years, marking the highest figure recorded to date. During a press conference, Avanesyan noted that there are several important indicators for assessing the effectiveness of the healthcare system, with average life expectancy being a primary one.

She explained that data on average life expectancy is usually compiled mid-year, which means that figures for 2025 are not yet available. However, based on 2024 results, there has been an increase in life expectancy in Armenia.

“The average life expectancy in Armenia has reached 78.6 years, the highest figure ever recorded, and this is our most significant achievement,” the minister added.

She also addressed maternal mortality rates, emphasizing that they indicate the efficiency of healthcare mechanisms. “In this regard, 2025 is a remarkable year, as we have recorded only 1 case of maternal mortality, a figure that is unprecedented, and we must continue to focus our efforts on maintaining this positive trend,” said Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan.
