Ukraine Makes Bold Demand to Europe
Kyiv has demanded that the EU establish its position on Ukraine’s accession to the Union by 2027, announced Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Igor Zhovkva during a meeting with a delegation from the European Parliament. This was reported by Strana.ua.
“Ukraine’s membership in the European Union is the foundation for future security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe. That is why we need a clear political decision regarding Ukraine’s accession by 2027,” he said.
In June 2022, the EU granted candidate country status to Ukraine and Moldova. The EU has repeatedly acknowledged that this decision was largely symbolic, aimed at supporting Kyiv and Chișinău in their confrontation with Moscow. Meanwhile, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that joining the EU is Kyiv's sovereign right.
