Police Officer Charged with Falsifying Reports for 13 Citizens

The anti-corruption committee of the Republic of Armenia has initiated a criminal proceeding based on materials received from the internal security and anti-corruption department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RA. It has been established that a police official has falsified reports regarding alleged violations committed by more than ten citizens.

Specifically, between January 4 and April 3, 2023, the aforementioned official created 17 false reports involving 13 citizens who had not committed any administrative violations as stipulated by law, without their participation, and placed these reports into official circulation.

As a result of the police official's actions, these citizens were fined 50,000 AMD each. The officer has been charged under part 1 of Article 445 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for committing official forgery (17 episodes). A travel ban and suspension from duty have been imposed as a measure of restraint. The pre-investigation has been completed, and the case materials have been sent to the anti-corruption court of RA with an accusatory conclusion.
