100-Year-Old Citizens in Armenia to Receive 1 Million Drams

Seventy-one citizens residing throughout Armenia, who have either turned 100 this year or will do so by the end of the year, will receive a one-time financial gesture of 1 million drams from the state in 2026. This decision was made during today’s session of the Armenian government.

The resolution states that the aim is to symbolically express gratitude and respect towards those who have dedicated a century of their lives to their families, the state, the homeland, their work, and society.

“This initiative, besides its financial component, serves as a moral recognition of an entire generation that has lived through various phases of our people’s existence, including periods filled with severe challenges such as the Great Patriotic War, the complex post-war years, the earthquake, the tumultuous war period of the 1990s, and socio-economic and political transformations. These individuals are living bearers of our national memory; their biographies are a piece of our history,” the justification for the decision states.

It is also noted that the one-time payment will not be given to individuals who have lost their pension entitlement, nor will it be paid in the event of their death. Additionally, citizens who have already received this support by decision of the Yerevan City Council will not be eligible for the one-time assistance.
