Iran's Foreign Ministry: It Is Necessary to Overcome Distrust Towards the United States
Iran believes that it is necessary to overcome the distrust that has formed towards the United States, but developing a framework for negotiations with Washington is possible, stated Iran's Foreign Minister.
Today, delegations from the U.S. and Iran held talks in Muscat, Oman, to resolve disputes over Iran's nuclear program.
“The distrust that has arisen since the June conflict of 2025 is quite significant. This distrust poses a challenge for negotiations, and we must overcome it to develop a new negotiation framework,” Araqchi said on Iranian television after the discussions with the U.S. regarding Iran's nuclear program in Oman.
According to the Foreign Minister, if the current diplomatic process continues, the parties will be able to develop the necessary framework for dialogue in the next phase.
The meeting between Iran and the United States, organized with the mediation of Oman, occurs for the first time after a months-long halt in the negotiation process, which was triggered by the open phase of the Iran-Israel conflict in June 2025. At that time, the Islamic Republic and the United States had held five rounds of consultations.
