A New Wave of Anti-Government Protests is Growing in Iran: WSJ

The Wall Street Journal reports that discontent is rising in Iran, which could lead to a second wave of anti-government protests. The new demonstrations and marches are linked to the harsh crackdown of the first wave of protests and reported fatalities of thousands of individuals.

According to the publication, many Iranians, despite the potential risks, are openly expressing their dissatisfaction with the current authorities. Notably, it is mentioned that relatives mourning the deceased during funerals and memorials are chanting anti-government slogans.

Additionally, students are refusing to sing patriotic songs, and healthcare workers are publicly condemning the arrests of doctors and nurses who assisted those injured during the protests. At the same time, certain local activist groups are already openly calling for the overthrow of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
