US-Iran Tensions Volatile for Middle East, Lavrov States
The growing tensions between the US and Iran are potentially explosive for the entire Middle East region, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“Considering that this situation can be potentially explosive not only for Iran but for the whole Middle East, there are an excessive number of mines here, ready to explode, simply waiting for someone to step on them,” Lavrov mentioned in an interview with RT.
The minister also emphasized that Iran is a close partner of the Russian Federation, and Moscow is “not indifferent to the developments of the complex situation in the region.” Russia does not aim to mediate in the escalating situation among Iran, Israel, and the US, but has expressed serious concern regarding the growing tensions.
