Over 1600 Trucks Accumulated on the Military Road
More than 1600 large trucks are waiting to depart from Russia to Georgia on the Military Road. This was reported by the Center for Traffic Organization in North Ossetia.
“More than 1600 large trucks are registered in the electronic queue,” the statement noted. Earlier, it was reported that over 1400 large trucks were waiting to leave Russia.
Traffic for large trucks on the Military Road has been prohibited since February 2 due to adverse weather conditions.
The Military Road stretches from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi, passing through the Greater Caucasus mountain range and connecting Russia with the South Caucasus.
The functioning checkpoint, Kazbegi-Verin Lars, is the only one on the Georgian-Russian border. On the Russian side, the highway passes through North Ossetia. During the winter months, the road is often closed due to unfavorable weather conditions.
