Nuclear Arms Control: Trump Questions the 'New START' Treaty

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Washington and Moscow should not pursue the extension of the 'New START' treaty but instead develop a new, more modern, and long-term agreement.

According to Trump, the current 'New START' treaty is poorly coordinated for the U.S., which he believes is being grossly violated as well. The former president mentioned that under such circumstances, it would be more effective to involve nuclear experts and assign them the task of developing a new agreement.

"Instead of simply extending the 'New START', we need to empower our nuclear experts to create a new, improved, and updated treaty that can last for many years into the future," Trump emphasized.
