Russia to Act Responsibly and Deliberately After the Expiration of the START Treaty, Foreign Ministry
Russia intends to take responsible and measured actions after the expiration of the START Treaty (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty). This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that Moscow remains open to seeking diplomatic avenues for ensuring strategic stability.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia has not yet received an official response from the United States regarding Moscow's proposal to mutually maintain the quantitative limitations established by the START Treaty.
The ministry characterized Washington's approach to the Russian initiative concerning the treaty as erroneous and regrettable. At the same time, it was emphasized that after the expiration of the START Treaty, Russia is ready to implement decisive military-technical countermeasures in response to emerging threats.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's assessment, after the expiration of the treaty, the parties are no longer bound by its obligations and are free to choose their further actions.
