In the last almost 40 years, you would never have seen the words 'peace', 'Armenia', and 'Azerbaijan' together, and even if these words were used together, it would have meant something incredible. That is why what happened in 2025 and what is happening now is astonishing. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity ceremony.

“However, this ceremony is not only about celebrating the peace agreement, it is also an affirmation by Armenia and Azerbaijan that the page of conflict is closed; otherwise, it would have been pointless for the President of Azerbaijan or myself to come here and receive this honor. This is also a manifestation of international community support because the decision was made by the Judges’ Committee, which includes esteemed members from various corners of the world,” he said.

Pashinyan also noted that although the award is presented to the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, it belongs to both peoples. “Incredible things happen when there is faith, commitment, vision, and wisdom. I believe the peace agreement was signed because Armenia and Azerbaijan realized that the conflict needed to stop now, otherwise, it would never cease, bringing new suffering to both countries and peoples,” he stated.
